History
1600-1800
The Kingdom of Bavre has been around since 1623, when its independence was officially signed into law in the old capital of Broekzele. From day one, the sea shaped its destiny. Bavre’s merchants and ship captains knew the ocean like the back of their hand, sailing far and wide along trade routes that carried spices, silks, and all kinds of treasures. Thanks to them, Bavre grew into a wealthy trading power with influence that reached well beyond its shores. For nearly two hundred years, this connection to the sea fueled its rise, grand harbors popped up, coastal cities thrived, and a strong naval tradition took root, becoming something the Bavren people were genuinely proud of.
1800-1900
The nineteenth century, however, brought a long and bitter decline. A succession of deadly and destructive wars swept across the kingdom, draining its treasuries, shattering its fleets, and leaving once-thriving ports in ruins. The economic damage was profound: trade routes were disrupted, merchant houses collapsed, and the hard-won prosperity of earlier generations was largely erased. Recovery proved slow and painful.
1900-1950
In the twentieth century Bavre again found itself drawn into global conflict. During the First Great War the kingdom fought with determination and emerged victorious, its armies and navy earning hard-won renown. The Second Great war brought another military triumph, yet the cost was catastrophic. Bombs and artillery reduced cities to rubble, farmlands were scorched, and the destruction that scarred Bavren soil lingered for decades. Victory had been secured, but the price paid in blood and ruin was immense.
1950-1962
Between 1950 and 1962, Bavre was caught in a messy in‑between stage. The country was still trying to patch itself back together after the devastation of the Second Great war, but progress was slow and uneven. Ports were rebuilt, factories reopened, and trade trickled back in, yet everyday life was marked by shortages, inflation, and frustration. Politically, things grew tense: the monarchy remained a symbol of stability, but communist groups gained ground among workers and students who felt left behind. Strikes and protests became common, and governments rose and fell without managing to calm the unrest. On top of that, Bavre got dragged into Cold War conflicts abroad, sending troops and resources it could barely spare. By the early 1960s, the strain was too much disillusionment spread, and the communists seized the moment, paving the way for their takeover in 1962.
